Respironics earns its place on The Forbes Platinum 400 list of Best Big Companies in America

Respironics, Inc. (NASDAQ: RESP), a leading provider of innovative products for the global sleep and respiratory markets, is among the 400 best big companies in America as rated by Forbes magazine.  Each year, Forbes compiles its Platinum 400 “after a thorough review of financial metrics, Wall Street forecasts, corporate governance ratings and other public information,” the publication reported in its Jan. 8, 2007 cover story.

More than 1,000 corporations with $1 billion or more in revenues are screened for the list of best-managed companies in each of 26 industries. Respironics is among 22 leaders in health care equipment and services. Regionally, the medical device maker joins PNC Financial Services, Dick’s Sporting Goods, American Eagle Outfitters and other top-notch corporations headquartered in Pittsburgh.

A total of 35 companies, including Respironics, are appearing for the first time after exceeding the $1 billion sales mark in their past fiscal year.

“What is so special about The Platinum 400?” Forbes writer Brian Zajac points to the outstanding performance figures for this group of companies, including sales growth, earnings-per-share and total return. Forbes lists Respironics 5-year average growth earnings-per-share of approximately 21 percent.

Respironics’ solid performance was first recognized by Forbes magazine in 1990 when it made the publication’s 200 Best Small Companies in America list, an honor it repeated in subsequent years.
